About Me

Welcome to Mr. Good's 8th Grade Social Studies! This course is a survey of U.S. History from the colonial period to the end of reconstruction. There is a large focus on the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights as well as the Civil War and Reconstruction. I tie that history into its effect on current events through inquiry, projects and discussion.

Here is a little about me to help us get to know each other:

Name:  Call me Mr. Good. Not Kris, not Mr. G, and preferably not Mr. Ku, although he is pretty awesome.

Where I am From and How did I get here? I grew up all over the Western United States including California, New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona. I spent some time studying at Northern Arizona University before joining the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy, I was an Aviation Electrician and worked on F/A-18 Superhornets. I lived in Japan for three years and spent much of that time on aircraft carriers U.S.S. Kittyhawk and U.S.S. George Washington. After leaving the Navy,  I moved to Portland, Oregon where I earned my Bachelors of Science in History and Secondary Education as well as my MEd in Neuro-education from the University of Portland. Finally, I taught for three years at the middle school level before moving to San Marino, California and joining the amazing Huntington Foxes in 2017.

Foods I Like: Breakfast Burritos (you will often see me eating one on Fridays), Sushi, Pizza, basically all the stuff that I know isn't good for me.

Games I PlayFinal Fantasy (any and all of them, but mostly FFXIV), Mario Kart (I hold a tournament every year), Just Dance (with my daughter), Cyberpunk 2077, many more.

Books I am reading/have read: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, Mistborn and the Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson, The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan, The Expanse by James A Corey and Ty Franck (Basically any Science Fiction or Fantasy Series)

Other Interests: Far too many to list, but I play the Bagpipes, hike and camp as much as I can, spend time traveling with my family, and I recently built my first PC.
