SMUSD Spelling Bee

The San Marino Unified School District Elementary Spelling Bee is coming up on Thursday, February 21st!. Interested 6th graders need to submit their parent permission slips to their English teachers by this Friday, February 8th. (Participating 4th and 5th graders have already registered through their classroom teachers.)
When: Thursday, February 21 at 6:30 p.m.
Note: Spellers need to arrive by 6:15 p.m.
Where: HMS Cafeteria
Why: To experience a fun, friendly competition that is also a great way to increase word knowledge and vocabulary.

Annual 89th Founder's Day Event

The 89th annual PTA Council Founder's Day Awards Ceremony, titled "Above and Beyond" will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at 7 p.m. in the Huntington Middle School Auditorium. Co-Chairs Darbin Chan and Belinda Hwang invite the community to attend and celebrate the district's Honorary Service Award recipients, who are selected from each school site and council level. Tickets will be $5 per person with early RSVP invites and $10 at the door.

Barth Athletic Complex (BAC)

At Huntington Middle School, the opportunity to learn extends far beyond the inside of the classroom. The new two-story Barth Athletics Complex will include a full sized CIF Regulation gymnasium for the campus, two Media Classrooms, Fitness Room, Boy’s and Girl’s Team Rooms, and a second-floor multipurpose room. These areas are designed to help facilitate the School’s and Community’s health, fitness, recreational programs and social events.

We need your help in making our Career Day Fair a success again this year. Please consider taking time out of your schedule to volunteer to share your career path with our students during our Career Day Fair on Thursday, February 14, 2019. We are asking for volunteers to present their careers from 8:00 am -12:30 pm.

California Junior Scholarship Federation

CJSF forms will be available online and sent home with 7th and 8th grade student report cards on Friday, 1/18. The forms are due back to the office no later than WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 30TH at 3:00 PM

CJSF is the California Junior Scholarship Federation who recognize students with outstanding academic achievement in CJSF qualifying courses. If a Huntington student has been a member for three semesters (twice in 8th and at least once in 7th) s/he will graduate "with honors."

Each semester students must go through the membership process. Membership is not automatic. Students must be responsible for joining before the deadline. Retroactive membership is prohibited by CJSF.
