8th Grade Outdoor Education Camp

Pali Institute, Running Springs, CA

Dear 8th grade families,

Your child has the opportunity to enroll in an outdoor educational experience at Pali Institute, located in the San Bernardino Mountains near Lake Arrowhead. While at camp, students will participate in a wide variety of educational activities designed to increase their awareness of the natural environment and ecology, as well as develop leadership and orienteering skills. Some of the activities planned for this year’s trip include a team building, ropes courses, zip lining, archery, and orienteering through a forest environment.

The trip is scheduled to depart from HMS parking lot at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, September 15th 2025, and return to the school at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 19th, 2025. The fee to participate is $750. If you need financial assistance to set up a payment plan, please contact the HMS Front Office immediately at (626) 299-7060, and speak with Michelle Boecking, our Accounting Technician at extension 5007. In order to guarantee your child a spot on this trip you must complete the following by no later than Friday, May 23rd, 2025 at 4:00 PM.

1. Complete the HMS Registration for 8th Grade Outdoor Education Camp to Pali Institute.

2. Submit your $750 payment via check or credit card. You can pay by check at the HMS front office (or district office during the summer) or by credit/debit card at: https://HMSStore.myschoolcentral.com (with your student's ID number).

3. Complete the "Pali Institute" online registration. (You will receive a separate email from Pali Institute which includes a username and password). This is different from the HMS registration form and must also be completed.  We will notify you when Pali sends this email out so you can look for it in your email.

Students who complete all forms and submit payment after Friday, May 23rd, 2025 at 4:00 PM are not guaranteed attendance unless they are new enrollees to SMUSD.
