Español 1-2 (Period 3)

This is a one year course equivalent to High School Spanish first year.  We use the same books and materials as the high school.  We take the same tests and exams as the high school.  

Spanish 1/2 is a two-semester elective open to 8^th grade students and is the first year in a sequence of four courses.  The course is conducted in such a way as to emphasize the development of the four language skills:  understanding, speaking, writing and reading.  Students are involved in the ongoing building and reinforcing of the foundation for communication in the language through activities based on linguistic and cultural themes.  Vocabulary acquisition, idiomatic and structural usage pertaining to various themes ranging from everyday to cultural, literary and intellectual experiences are expanded from the Introduction to Spanish course in terms of both amount and depth.
