Please give your parents the green packet distributed in class today, which we reviewed together. It would be beneficial to keep it in an accessible location for your reference throughout the year.
Please put a label on your Chromebook with your first and last name. They all look the same and yours can easily be picked up by another student on accident. You can use a sticky note or a removable sticker or piece of tape. This will be your Chromebook until you turn it in at the end of 8th grade. Some of my past students have purchased a padded sleeve/cover to carry it from home to school. Looking on Amazon, there are many options that can be purchased for around $10 - $12. Also, please remember not to place heavy items on top of your Chromebook to avoid damaging the circuit board and/or screen. Thank you so much for taking care of this valuable school resource!

What a great second day of school! Thank you to everyone for being attentive, respectful, and eager to learn!
Students, please remember to put a label on your Chromebook with your first and last name. They all look the same and yours can easily be picked up by another student on accident. You can use a sticky note or a removable sticker or piece of tape. This will be your Chromebook until you turn it in at the end of 8th grade. Some of my past students have purchased a padded sleeve/cover to carry it from home to school. Looking on Amazon, there are many options that can be purchased for around $10 - $12. Also, please remember not to place heavy items on top of your Chromebook to avoid damaging the circuit board and/or screen. Thank you so much for taking care of this valuable school resource!
HOMEWORK
1. Your "Water Bottle" writing and art assignment is due on Wednesday, August 19th. Please be sure you review the yellow sheet distributed in class today, which contains the instructions and grading rubric.
2. Begin gathering school supplies. Yesterday, you received a list of supplies (green handout) with a checklist of supplies that are needed in our class. The list was also emailed to you and your parents earlier this week. It is posted below for your convenience. Please have supplies by Monday, August 17th. Thank you so much to those who have donated Kleenex! It is very much appreciated!
3. Charge your Chromebook overnight so that it is fully charged for school tomorrow.
4. Please make it a routine to check your school email after school and before bed, as you may have received important messages regarding class assignments, sports, dress-up days, ASB-sponsored events, or extracurricular activities.

Welcome to HMS! What a great start we've had! Although you were an attentive listener, you may feel a bit overwhelmed with the amount of information given to you today. Teachers will review procedures multiple times over the coming weeks to ensure clarity and understanding. I encourage you to ask questions and seek help when needed. My goal is for students to feel safe and comfortable in their new learning environment. I am confident this will be a rewarding, productive, and successful year for all!
Today, we reviewed school supplies and what materials you will need for class each day. As a reminder, please bring the following every day:
1. 1 inch 3-ring "View" binder (please have by Monday, August 17th)
2. Binder Reminder (you received this in Homeroom today)
3. pencil bag/box with supplies (please have all supplies by Monday, August 17th)
4. school-issued Chromebook (you will receive yours this week!)
5. water bottle (optional)
* Please remember that rolling backpacks are not permitted on campus, unless prior authorization has been obtained from administration.
