Memoir Hi, I am an 8th grader at Huntington Middle School. When I first graduated from elementary school at Carver I was ecstatic and terrified at the same time. The thought of going to a new school and growing up and being in 6th grade seemed amazing. I admit, going to a new school, with a new campus, and the new kids from Valentine was terrifying. It was weird that you went from being the oldest kids on the campus to feeling like an ant in a huge world. I loved the first couple of months at school. I felt like I had started over and I had a new group of friends. It was great. When Wonder Valley came I was really excited to spend a week away from my family and feel independent. It didn'™t turn out to be my favorite camp but I was hoping Catalina would be better. The rest of 6th grade didn'™t really turn out to be what I expected. But I learned a lot and I was ready to go into 7th grade as a new person. 7th grade turned out to be a better year but I wished I had focused on my studies a little more. Catalina was amazing. I loved it. The scenery was great and the ocean was beautiful. The water was crystal clear. By the end of the year I was definitely happy for it to be ending and excited for the summer. Now, I am in 8th grade. This is my favorite year so far. It has been amazing and I admit it is the hardest. I am struggling through all my classes but I love my teachers and it feels great not being the little ants anymore. The extra curricular activities at Huntington are amazing. Since 6th grade I have been doing the musicals and I got a lead this year. Ms. Thayer, an amazing English teacher is the musical director. She is great at her job and I love doing the musicals with her. I am also in Cheerleading and that is also a lot of fun and gives you a lot of school spirit. It feels great cheering for football and basketball and watching your friends play the games they love. Huntington Middle School has been a great experience and every teacher has taught me something new. I would suggest just taking in anything and everything about this great school and cherishing all your moments here. Now I just have to conquer High School.
