Thursday Classwork: Descriptive Essay - Revising process with "Revising Worksheet" checklist (using yellow highlighter and red pen) on printed essay

Homework:
  • Finish the revising process for your Descriptive Essay using the "Revising Worksheet" checklist. Follow the directions while using a red pen and highlighter (if you don't have a yellow highlighter, any color will do) to make changes on your printed essay. This important step in the writing process should be completed before class tomorrow. I will be checking the revisions and the Revising Worksheet checklist, and then you'll be typing those revisions. We'll also add images. Our goal is to print a final copy at the end of Friday class and turn it in.
  • Be ready to also turn in the other important papers we used during the Descriptive Essay project - yellow brainstorming sheet, pink graphic organizer for five paragraphs, and the Revising Worksheet checklist.

UPDATES

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to HMS! What a great first day!!!  Although students were attentive listeners, they may come home feeling overwhelmed with the amount of information provided today. Please reassure your child that teachers will review procedures repeatedly over the next few weeks. Encourage your child to ask questions and seek help when needed. My goal is for all students to feel safe and comfortable in their new learning environment. I am already impressed with this group of 6th graders, and I know it will be a rewarding, positive, and successful year for all!

The most common question from students today was, "What do I bring to class?"  For this week, please bring the following:

1.  Folder (blue or green) from class today with various handouts inside
2.  Chromebook (fully charged)
3.  Binder Reminder (given to you today in Homeroom)
4.  School supplies, if ready (not due until Monday)
5. Homeroom only: A reading book for SSR!

Please leave other items in your locker or at home.  Starting on Monday, backpacks will not be allowed in the classroom per school policy.  However, students have the option to bring a small drawstring sport/gym bag to the classroom.

Reminders
Please remember that students are not allowed in school hallways
prior to the 8:00 a.m. bell.  Thank you so much for your cooperation!
