Today in clas we discussed how adjetives behave in Spanish.  We reviewed vocabulary on pages 48 and 49, students were reminded that at the back of each Chapter we have the entire vocabulary for the chapter.  Chapter 2 is on page 85.  I recommend they put a small post it on that page.  We worked on activities 1through 5 on pages 50 and 51 and turned them in at the end of the period.

Today in class we used page 52 from the textbook to learn how to ask someone's birthe day and age.  We talked about idiomatic expressions and how some things are simply said differently from one language to another.  Some stuents can't understad why we would ask "How many years do you have?" instead of "How old are you?" but again, it's a different language so expresions are different from one language to another.

We did activities 6, 7 and 8 in class and turned in at the end of the period.

Today in class we:

worked on pages 24 and 25.  All students completed activity 33 and we went over the answers, all classes worked on activity 34 and we went over the answers for that as well.  All periods began working on activities 35 and 36.

From page 24 we went over the concept of the verbs "ser" and "estar". Periods 5 and 6 worked on activity 33 from page 24 answering all of the questions. Period 6 wrote out the sentences from activity 33.

Period 2 only reviewed the alphabet sounds from page 22 (textbook) because on Tuesday they were testing and missed period 2). Students then reviewed Cuaderno #1 page 9 and spelled their names out loud.

We learned the concept of conjugation some more.  Students were introduced to the regular endings for "er" and "ir" verbs.  The "ar" verbs were covered last week.  Students were given new  verbs to use this information with such as:

Map Quiz #1
Prepare for this by studying the map we made together in class.  Memorize the locations of the Spanish speaking countries.  The quiz is multiple choice- only 10 countries will be selected for this quiz.

It will be a multiple choice quiz so they will not have to know how to spell them yet.  They only need to know how to locate them.

Our second "book" quiz.  Parents, this is a quiz not a test.  This is on "Segundo Paso" which means "Second Step" in Spanish.  We are covering some basic question sentences.  To ask

  • "How old are you?",
  • "Where are you from?",
  • "How are you?" 
The hardest part of the quiz will be asking studets to write sentences telling about themselves, How old you are.  Where you are from. etc.  Page 6 on the homework from 9/22 is a perfect page to study off of.  You may ask your child to practice these questions with you.
