Course: The grade 8 Social Science course is a survey of early settlements, and development of North America, through the founding of our nation and carrying through the centuries up to World War I. There will be a thorough examination of the U.S. Constitution as well as westward expansion and the Civil War era, including Reconstruction. Throughout the course, a strong emphasis will be placed on accessing what students know, building on that prior knowledge, and exploring the implications for life today.
Technology: This course will explore U.S. History in a variety of ways including, but not limited to, primary source analysis, videos, projects (including making movies), reading, tests and quizzes, and essays. I try to use technology in the classroom both to reduce paper waste as well as help students learn to use technology responsibly. I will try and put most assignments on google classroom.
About Mr. Good: Mr. Good recently moved from Portland, Oregon and lives in San Marino with his family. He enjoys backpacking, playing the bagpipes, tinkering on cars, video games and spending time with his family (not necessarily in that order).
