Hello and welcome to Huntington Middle School where we know that We Rise By Lifting Others! The 2017-18 school year promises to be truly awesome thanks to the hard work of our faculty and staff as well as the generosity of our San Marino Schools Foundation and the Huntington Middle School PTA.
I am honored to serve the students, parents of Huntington Middle School and the greater San Marino community. Having grown up in the small town of Lindsay, Nebraska, I understand what it means to rely on a small community for support, and to serve that community with hard work, dedication and collaboration. At Huntington, we rely on the strong and consistent support of the San Marino Schools Foundation as well as the Huntington Middle School PTA.
Education is not only my profession, it is my passion. I earned a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. I moved to California, only 3 months after, to begin a career in the field. I ended up sharing a home with a teacher who convinced me to begin subbing on my off days. After day one I was hooked and immediately enrolled at Pepperdine University to earn my Master's degree in Education and Teaching Credential. I went on to return to Pepperdine to earn a second Master's degree in Administration and am currently working toward my EdD in Educational Leadership at Pepperdine.
Beyond work my family and I love to travel and spend time at the beach with our dogs. We've traveled together recently to Italy and Japan as well as several trips back to Nebraska to see family. We've been known to run up to June Lake for a week of camping and I am always looking for the next adventure having gone skydiving, bungee jumping, white water rafting and freestyle mountain biking. However, my son and I always have time for a great film and are certified geeks for all things Dr. Who, Marvel and SciFi.
Thank you so much for allowing me to serve this fabulous community and your wonderful children. Please do not hesitate to contact me if there is anything that you feel I could do to better serve.
