CONGRATULATIONS Halo Award Recipients!
Allis Lee
When Allis’s oldest kids started at HMS last year, she jumped right in to volunteer. Allis co-chaired both Noontime Fun and Staff Appreciation her first year at HMS; roles that she continued to co-chair this year. Allis can be seen bringing tons of yummy snacks and treats to the blacktop for each Noontime Fun event, as well as coordinating all the fun games and activities. If it seems like Allis is on campus all the time, she is. As co-chair for Staff Appreciation, she is on campus regularly to show our staff how much they are appreciated. Outside of PTA, Allis also chaperones many of her daughters’ sports events. We are grateful to have Allis in the HMS family!
Stacy Paek
Stacy is one of those volunteers who is a quiet giant. She is in her second year of co-chairing Staff Appreciation at HMS. She brings her creative talent to all she does and manages to make it all look so easy. Stacy also serves on the PTA Executive Board this year as Corresponding Secretary. She works behind the scenes to make sure the coffee and refreshments are always available at our PTA meetings. Stacy also served on the PTA Council-wide Founders’ Day Committee this year, ensuring that the Founders’ Day event was a memorable one. Congratulations to this hard working Halo Award recipient!
Annie Shih
Annie is our most veteran recipient, with her oldest child in college. Over the years, Annie has volunteered at HMS in many capacities. Annie’s organized and friendly nature made her a great fit to serve on both the Nominating Committee and Bylaws Committee in recent years. Annie has also served on the Hauntington Breakfast Committee as the co-chair of the VIP Breakfast. Most recently, Annie has co-chaired Noontime Fun this year and last, where she oversees all the games and activities the kids play. In addition, Annie serves as a San Marino School Foundation Trustee in support of all the schools. Annie exemplifies the HMS Halo Award spirit!
Daisy Wilson
Daisy has been a constant volunteer at HMS since 2018. She has served on the PTA Executive Board for 5 years: 2 years as Vice President of Membership, 1 year as Vice President of Programs & Calendar, and 2 more years as Vice President of Membership. Daisy is always willing to lend a hand when asked. She has served on the Program & Project Allocations Committee as well as the Nominating Committee. Daisy is active in supporting the HMS athletics programs and has planned the football banquet in the past. Outside of HMS, Daisy supports our middle schoolers through her involvement in SMNLL and as a Trustee of the San Marino Schools Foundation. HMS is lucky to have Daisy around for 3 more years since her youngest will be a Fox next year!
Amy Yee
Amy is another seasoned volunteer who has been serving at HMS for many years and is known for her strong work ethic. She has co-chaired the Ticket Booth at Hauntington Breakfast for the last 6 years, and she is always looking to streamline the process. Amy served as the 8th Grade Graduation Co-Chair in 2022; a role she is co-chairing again for this upcoming graduation. Amy is also active in supporting the HMS Band program by assisting at performances and chaperoning field trips. She has also served on the PTA Council-wide Founders’ Day Committee. We are grateful for Amy’s dedication to HMS!
Principal Mary Hazlett
The Huntington Halo Committee is proud to surprise HMS Principal Mary Hazlett with a Halo Award this year. Ms. Hazlett started out at HMS as Assistant Principal in 2021 and was promoted to Principal in 2023. As an HMS Admin, Ms. Hazlett has been instrumental in guiding our school through rapidly evolving times, always keeping student safety and well-being at the forefront. Ms. Hazlett has been a strong supporter of PTA and always approaches her work with the PTA with the mindset of collaboration and improvement. Ms. Hazlett’s dedication to HMS students, families, teachers, staff, and PTA are appreciated by the entire HMS community, and it is an honor to present her with a Halo Award!
