Today you will turn in both of your final projects, if you haven't already. Remember to proofread your work by reading out loud. Reread instructions to ensure you have done all the requirements! Also, check your emails frequently. If there was a problem with your project, you need to fix it. I'll continue sending emails to alert you, so please don't stop checking! We are tying up loose ends this week!

1. SUBMIT all 8 pages (or more if you needed extra pages) of the Covid-19 Journal into Google Classroom. Please put the pages in order from the Cover to the end. Further instructions are in Google Classroom. Be sure to hit "Submit" so I know it's ready to score! :)
 
2. INSERT your "Wanted" Poster for "Who Started the Trojan War" in the slide show. You can access the slide show in Google Classroom "Instructions" or try these links:

Here are the assignments for Wednesday, May 20th: 

Both final projects are due by 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21st. Early submission is encouraged, so there are no last minute surprises and we can overcome submission problems, if you have any.
 
1. Complete the last page of the Covid-19 journal "The Return to Normal Life." Detailed directions are in Google Classroom and below. Due Thursday (5/21) by 3 PM.
 
Here are the instructions in Google Classroom for the Covid-19 Journal: 
 
Submit all eight (8) all of your Journal pages -- the Cover through "The Return to Normal Life"
Please put the 8 pages in order and scan or be sure your photos capture the entire page. If taking photos, lay the page on a flat surface and fill your camera screen with the page. Rotate the page to the right-side up position (not sideways)
Be sure your photo illustrations are completely colored in. Outline the illustration in sharpie, then color. Leave as little white as possible.
Be sure the photo frame and the little germ guy are also colored in.
Be sure you have at least 5 well-written sentences (i.e. detailed with sentence stretchers) for each page.
For the last page, write about how even on May 21st we still aren't close to returning to normal life. There are talks about lifting restrictions. What restrictions are being lifted? What would you like to see go back to how it was before the pandemic? How do you feel about the possibility of school starting out remotely next year? Please be sure the last page is completed even though we clearly have not returned to "normal" life yet! You can color what you're most looking forward to in the photo frame!
 
2. Keep working on your argumentative project "Wanted" Poster for Who Started the Trojan War. Submit it to the slide show, if done. The poster is due Thursday (5/21) in the Shared slide show in Google Classroom. You can access the slide show in Google Classroom "Instructions" or try these links:

Add your final completed poster to the class SlideShow
Remember a "head shot" and background that is realistic to ancient Greece
Little to no white space in your illustration
Outline your illustration in Sharpie and color in with colored pencil
Colors should be realistic to ancient Greece (no neon!)
Lightly color the parchment/scroll background in brown, tan, or yellow
Written work is in ultra fine or extra fine black Sharpie
The topic sentence is the name of the accused with an appositive above the illustration
The body part of the paragraph starts on the lines (should be the word "First," )
If you need to complete your paragraph on a separate sheet of paper, that is fine! Just be sure to insert both pages on one slide, side by side!
Your page or pages (if you needed a second sheet) should be the only thing showing in your photo/scan. Please crop your photo so there is no other background. Lie your page/s on a flat surface and fill the screen with your page/s.

2. If your computer doesn't have a camera, please call in with a cell phone, so we can all see you. It is much easier to teach when you can see facial expressions, hands, body language, etc.
3. Follow "normal" school rules: no cell phones (unless you're using one), no food/eating, appropriate clothing and manners.
4. Do not use the "chat" area for anything but questions for the teacher.

Here are the assignments for Thursday, May 14th: 

SOCIAL STUDIES/ENGLISH

1. Complete the Covid-19 journal page entitled Stay Home They Said. This page relates to "Safer at Home" requirements, how your family and you adapted to being home together, your feelings about no birthday parties, scout meetings, baseball, softball, etc. Remember: you must have at least 5 detailed and well-written sentences. Please use the attached brainstorming sheet to help you with ideas when needed! Remember: Who, What, When, Where, Why, How, Sights, Sounds (including dialogue), and Feelings.
 
2. Color the photo illustration on the Stay Home They Said page. Outline the illustration with a sharpie and then color it in. Please color the entire frame, too.  Remember to print out an extra sheet of lined paper, if needed (attachment below). Don't try scrunching the words in. Always write on a line!
 
3. Submit the completed Stay Home They Said page in Google Classroom (only). Just submit that one page, even if you needed an extra sheet to complete the section. Do not email the page to me -- submit it through Google Classroom only.
 
4. Go to yesterday's Google Classroom: Who Started the Trojan War Rough Draft Assignment.
  • Unsubmit your rough draft (if you submitted it), and
  • Revise and edit your rough draft. If you submitted your work during the day, you received revising and editing suggestions.
  • Be sure you are following the line-by-line directions provided in the Google Classroom instructions. 
  • Fix all spelling (underlined in red) and grammar (underlined in blue) errors.
  • Read the draft out loud.
  • When you are done with your revising and editing, click on "Submit".
Optional: Please watch the attached movie Alexander the Great at your leisure! It's a terrific movie and brings history to life (you'll have to scroll down a bit to access the movie).

1. Print the attached Covid-19 Memory Book, a few Extra pages for Covid Book sheets, and open or print the Covid Memories Brainstorming Sheet. Complete the cover and first page It All Began. It All Began is actually about when you first heard about the pandemic, your feelings, your sources of information. Tomorrow's assignment will have more to do with our class discussion about the day school let out, so you might want to save that experience for tomorrow. You must have at least 5 detailed and well-written sentences. Please use the attached brainstorming sheet to help you with ideas when needed! (Remember: Who, What, When, Where, Why, How, Dates - Friday, March 13, 2020, Sights, Sounds, and Feelings.)
 
2. Color the cover of the Memory Book and the illustration. Outline the illustration with a sharpie and then color in. Please color the entire frame, too. You will not be turning in any work for the memory book until Thursday.
 
3. Continue working on the argumentative chart Whodunnit? Thetis and Peleus through Aphrodite. We'll do the first 2 together in class. Remember, you must have 2 bullet points for both the "was" and "wasn't" arguments. You can use Google Chat or create your own Google Meet to work on the argumentative chart in pairs or groups to brainstorm. You will be turning in the chart on Tuesday in Google Classroom.
 
If you could not make class, you must email me to set up a meeting to discuss both of these projects.
