Assignment

Dear Students and Parents,

Tomorrow is a minimum day and we will be having our Class Party! Thank you in advance for your donations!

It's hard to believe that Tuesday, May 29th marks the last full day of school for 2017-18. The school year has truly flown by. It will be the last day spent with the Period 3/4 students, as Spirit Day and the last day of school are spent with the homeroom classes.

Tuesday the students will be clearing out their lockers and bringing home their 6th grade ELA/SS portfolios. So, please send your student to school with a large bag with handles. Large brown grocery bags, doubled up, work perfectly. If your student cannot bring it home with them, please let me know and I can leave the portfolio in the main office for you to pick up in the summer.

It has been a genuine pleasure and privilege spending the school year with your wonderful, bright, talented, caring, fun, and funny children. Each of them is truly special. I will miss this class very much!

Thank you for a wonderful year. I wish you and your families a wonderful summer and life's blessings in the years to come.

Fondly, Mrs. Moffat

Assignment

Dear Parents,

As your child may tell you tonight, my car was broken into last week and my grade book, the Ch. 17 Social Studies tests, and an informative written response (quiz) were all taken (along with my tote bag and favorite lime green raincoat -- which I'm assuming is what attracted the thief to my tote). I am especially sorry the written responses were taken as based on those that I did have time to assess, the students did a fabulous job explaining the similarities between Ashoka's edicts and our Constitution's preamble. I'd love for them to share their knowledge with you.

Therefore, for tonight's homework, your child will explain the connection orally to you (it should not take more than 1- 2 minutes to explain). Please praise them on their efforts! Please also sign the blue sheet acknowledging that they completed this oral assignment! I will not be retesting them for Ch. 17 nor make them rewrite the written responses.

Many thanks for your support!

Mrs. Moffat

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to HMS! What a great first two days! Although all students have been attentive listeners to date, your child may come home feeling overwhelmed with the amount of information provided. Please reassure your child that we will review procedures repeatedly. Encourage your child to ask questions and seek help directly from me when needed. My goal is for all students to feel safe and comfortable with their new learning environment. I am already impressed with this group of 6th graders, and I know it will be a rewarding, positive, and successful year for all!
